Caramelized Tuna Salad nice light and healthy salad



  • 4 ozfresh bean sprouts
  • 1mini cucumber cut into chunks
  • 1/2 ccilantro chopped
  • 2 Tbspfresh basil leaves
  • 1 tspsesame oil
  • 1tuna steak cut into chunks
  • 1 Tbsppeanut oil
  • 1 Tbsproasted cashews crushed

  • 1 tsppeanut oil
  • 1 tspgrated ginger
  • ·pinch of red chili flakes
  • 4 Tbspsoy sauce
  • 1 Tbspfish sauce
  • 1 Tbsptamarind paste
  • 1/2 cbrown sugar

How to Make Caramelized Tuna Salad

  1. To make the dressing. In a small saucepan add the peanut oil. Add the ginger and red pepper flakes and cook a few seconds. Add the soy sauce, Fish sauce and tamarind paste. Cook 30 seconds. Add the brown sugar and cook until the sugar has dissolved and the dressing is syrupy. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Mix the bean sprouts, cilantro, cucumber, and basil leaves together. Place on plate.
  3. Cut the tuna into chunks. Heat the peanut and sesame oil in a cast iron pan. Once hot add the tuna chunks and stir fry until desired doneness. Top the salad with the tuna. Drizzle the dressing over the top and garnish with nuts
